Dr. Ammara Mushtaq, Medical Director & Principal Investigator

Dr. Mushtaq, a board-certified physician in internal medicine and infectious diseases, is the lead Principal Investigator and Medical Director at Brooklyn Clinical Research. Previously, Dr. Mushtaq was a physician at the University of Florida, Gainesville,

where she managed highly complex patients, served as PI on several studies, and contributed as a medical advisor to the pharmaceutical sector.

Katherine Azer, MS — Site Manager & Senior Clinical Research Coordinator

Katherine Azer is the site manager and senior clinical research coordinator at Brooklyn Clinical Research.

With a background as a primary clinical research coordinator and regulatory specialist, she brings a wealth of experience spanning numerous years in vaccines, internal medicine, and psychiatry-driven clinical trials. Katherine has a bachelor’s in pharmaceutical science and a master’s in clinical research from Massachusetts College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences.

The best piece of advice I’ve ever been given is:

To always trust your gut, it will never disappoint you!

What is the most inspiring part of your job?

The most inspiring part of my job is the moment I notice our patients benefiting from the trial. When they leave the trial happier and healthier than they started – those are the moments that keep me motivated.

What values and principles guide you in your work?

When working with patients, it’s extremely valuable to be patient, kind, and understanding. The safety of our patients is my number one priority, and guiding myself with those values will make for a positive experience for all.

Priya Bikkani — Patient Recruitment Coordinator

Priya is our on-site Patient Recruitment Coordinator. She is responsible for sourcing and pre-screening patients into our research studies, and she serves as the first point of contact between the subject and our research site.

Priya received her BS in Biology from The University of Massachusetts Amherst. Priya has 3 years of clinical and research experience in psychiatry. In her free time, she enjoys practicing yoga and baking.

What’s the most inspiring part of your job?

The people I work with. My colleagues have a wealth of wisdom they are using to help people live better, healthier lives. I learn new things from them, and our patients, every day.

What values and principles guide you in your work?

I adhere to the ethical principles that protect participants and maintain scientific integrity. I will always put the patient first, respect their autonomy, and treat them with dignity throughout the study.

David Almeida — CEO & Founder

David is the CEO and Founder of Brooklyn Clinical Research and Swift Clinical Research Group.

David holds an MBA, with Dean’s Honors and Distinction, from Columbia Business School, and a BA in Health: Science, Society, and Policy from Brandeis University. In his free time, he plays soccer and entertains his long-haired dachshund, Leo.
